3 more days...

Fall is my favorite time of year and I was so excited to take Rupert out in all the wonderful colors and play in the leaves! I love the colors of fall, I love the smell of fall and I love the feeling of fall. I love sunny days where you need to wear a jacket and some boots, (speaking of which I am still on the hunt for the perfect pair!) Going through these photos made me so excited for next year as Rupert will have his own little gum boots and we can go explore in the woods and collect leaves and maybe even press a few! I am so glad that he enjoys being outside in nature just as much as we do! As soon as we put on his shoes and start heading downstairs he gets so excited, flailing his arms and legs and letting out excited, impatient shrieks!

I absolutely love this toque! I am going to be so sad next year when he is too big for it!

This past fall was also Rupert's first experience with solids. Was not a fan at first but quickly got the hang of it! Now he is an eater extraordinaire! Some of his favorites are: oranges, grapes, cheese, yogurt, any kind of fruit cup, avocado, rice puffs, cheerios, green beans, corn, carrots and potatoes. Not the biggest fan of pieces of meat but we'll get there! He is also mastering his sippy cup but seems to prefer and actually be good at drinking from our cup! Crazy kid! He is completely on cow's milk now! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! No more formula for us! Such a money and time saver! And he hasn't really seemed to notice the difference. So Rupert is now an Island Farms boy. :D

Seriously, if we had the money, I would get him an agent and fly to New York because how is this kid not in a Gap add? Am I allowed to say that? Oh heck why not, I'm his mom :D

This fall also saw our first trip as a family to a pumpkin patch. Rupert wasn't that thrilled as it was during his nap time and he was still just a little guy, but we were pretty excited! Next year will be a different story I'm sure! And he will actually get to pick out his own pumpkin.

Discovering the scratchy hay! He is such a textures kid! He loves to touch things and scratch things. The first touch of something new his hands usually recoil but gradually he will point with his favorite pointer finger and slowly open up his hands and then be right into it. He loves the sound and feeling of scratching which is just too funny because when I was pregnant with him I told Colin it felt like the baby was scratching me by my hip all the time. And now he likes to scratch the couch, the carpet, his bouncy ball and us!

My pumpkin's first pumpkin!

Our little Curious George. This costume fits him perfectly as he truly is a little Curious George. Now that he is more mobile he is into everything! And he has eyes like a hawk and is as quick as a fox! He can spot the tiniest speck of dirt and have it in his mouth in mere seconds. And no matter that we've spent our hard earned money on toys to amuse the child, he much prefers to play with lamps, cords, heat registers, plugins and whatever else he can find that is just out of reach. Although he is getting more helpful, when he is holding something that he shouldn't be and we ask for it he will give it to us.... don't think he quite realizes that we will keep it though, as he burst into tears when we don't give it back. Soon enough I know he will stop offering it to us and proclaim it "mine".

He has come so far and accomplished so much already it is scary to think what I will be writing in a year's time!

4 more days...

Well these posts are going to be a bit of a mish mosh of the past year. I have been having so much fun going back through all my photos and seeing how much he's grown! Seeing all the things he is now able to do and how much his face has changed! He is such a little boy now, the further I go back I see his little baby face and realize how much he has matured. It's crazy! I know I will one day miss those baby days, but right now I am so excited for him to be growing and learning and because of all the new things he is capable of doing he can experience so much more in this beautiful world of ours!

{Such an expressive little character. I love getting to know his little personality!}

{First Christmas, with his first Christmas ornament! A sweet little penguin!}

{Our first Christmas card photo together. Look at his sweet little baby face!}

{First snowfall... not too sure about it! I'm sure next year will be much more fun.}

{Sneaky Santa! We put non breakable ornaments at the bottom that he was allowed to take off, so it was ok that he was going for the sheep, but he still looks rather guilty.}

{First Christmas Eve outfit. I love it! He is so cute!}

{First Christmas with the family! Cousin Maya and Cousin Halle are great friends to play with! And Aunty Megan sings the greatest songs!}

{One of my favorite pictures of the boy! His cute little bum and thighs... well not that little I suppose...}

{Again, such a little character! I love it! He is so expressive and seems to have a bit of the flare for the dramatic, not totally decided who he gets that from ;) }

Well more photos to come as I count down the days to my little boy's birthday!

5 more days

Five more days until we have a one year old! So crazy! I can't believe it has gone so fast! So I thought I would post some photos leading up to his very special day of our goings on the past year and a bit. Starting with before he made his debut as I was feeling nostalgic.

First our ultrasound photos of our precious little foot, which is what Colin named Rupert before he had a name! We didn't find out the gender, but I kind of had a feeling it would be a boy!

Not sure how many weeks I was here, but I loved my belly! Only after Rupert came did I realize I had crazy stretch marks underneath!

Christmas time and getting bigger! Wearing my absolute favorite maternity jeans!

Favorite pic that one of my beautiful sister's in law took!

Favorite one of the two of us.

Rupert's nursery for the first 4 months of his life. I loved it! So peaceful and cute!

Well hope you've enjoyed the beginning of the countdown... next post will have pictures of the precious boy. I am looking forward to reminiscing over the past year in photos!

Due date...

One year ago today a certain little boy was expected to make his debut into the world... but alas he decided my uterus was way to cozy and waited another ten days until he was gently convinced to come out! This is where I was a year ago today... looking like a house beside my newly graduated husband. Wow how fast a year goes by! Funny moments of the day... people kept asking me when I was due, and I would reply in my very tired and done voice, holding back the tears... "today.."

Anyways to commemorate his almost 1 year birthday... we did a little photo shoot in the grass... It was a beautiful day yesterday so we headed out to explore! Not too sure what he thinks of the grass, but he will get used to it soon enough. We were also incredibly inspired by Aunty Megan and the girls photo shoot in the dandelion field. We thought it looked like fun!

This next picture is of Rupert's fake cry face... it has shown up around our house quite often lately! Can't believe he already has a fake cry face!

Happy almost birthday little boy!

your best guess!

Anyone know what kind of plants are growing in my back yard? I'm thinking the first one kind of looks like an apple tree? Bri-guy? do you know?

This second one to me looks like a tulip tree... or magnolia is it called? Momma? Ruthie??? any ideas????

Either way, I'm thrilled to have them! Both are so pretty!

Bubbles and balls...

Can't believe it took us so long to do bubbles with Rupert! What kid doesn't love to watch bubbles fly high in the sky or creep quietly up on one only to have it pop the minute you get near! It's yet another beautiful day over here on the Island and so bubbles in tow we headed out the deck to have some fun!

{Master bubble blower}

Rupert waited eagerly to see what was going to happen. Seriously, look how nice and patiently he is sitting... and yet when it comes to his bottle you would think the child was starving!

{scrunchy faces are kind of my favorite!}

{practicing his bubble blowing moves for the future}

{child making a grab for the bubbles}

{me and Colin being artsy, well at least trying to be!}

If he is anything like his father which I highly expect he will be, (and hope he will be too :D ), this child is going to love spraying water out that hose one day. He was very excited to see the water come and wanted to get right in there! I'm sure it will be a source of great entertainment this summer!

{looks like we're soaking him, but daddy caught him just in time!}

Rupert loves his new big ball! I always remember getting a new one every summer down at my grandparent's house. There's something about playing with a ball that is almost as big as you! We picked a nice boyish blue ball for Rupe but don't think I didn't have my eye on the white one that had swirly colors all over it, because I for sure did! Maybe mommy needs a ball too...
