I have tried getting Rupert to walk with his push toy many times before but he usually just drops to the ground and wants nothing to do with it! But lately he has shown more interest and after one evening of trying it out again, he has gained confidence and is now all he wants to do! He also scaled the stairs tonight! ahhhhh! It's amazing how once they decide they can or want to do something it just happens! Such craziness!

little buddies
Although we have dreamt of moving back to the Island for so long, it was so hard to say goodbye to our friends and family, so my heart was overjoyed when a friend from Langley asked if she could come for a visit with her little boy! I used to work with Angela and through that she became a dear friend. They were only able to stay for the day but we were so so glad to have them, each moment was precious! We went for a walk down to Neck Point and the boys were pretty thrilled to discover things at the beach!
Herring eggs I think! they were everywhere!

So amazing to have watched a friend's baby grow from the day he was born (and even before then!) to this walking talking little person! Absolutely incredible!
Oh to discover things through a child's eyes!
Rupert absolutely loves "big" kids. I use quotation marks because although Jaden is almost 9 months older than Rupert, Rupert is about the same size! Our precious big boy! But Jaden can walk and talk (as well as many other skills that Rupe is yet to acquire :D ) which Rupert loves! Our day was filled with lots of "oooo"s and "wow"s and Rupert giggling away at his new friend's sounds.
"oh, that was pretty good, but watch what this one can do!"
Angela is such a special friend and I was so blessed to be able to spend the day with her and her little man. Hopefully many more trips back and forth to come!

walks, talks and seals...
This past weekend we went down to Victoria for Aunty Em's birthday... and as I was going through all our photos from the weekend I realized we came away without one photo of the birthday girl! No idea how that happened! We had a great time filled with gold medals, smokies, lots of cake and seals!
Walking with Grammie and Grampie to Windsor Park for some swing time!
Yup that's right there's daffodils in our gardens and blossoms on our trees! I love BC!
Grampie pushing Rupe on the swing.
Grammie's turn!
We continued on to Oak Bay Marina where Grampie bought us some fish to feed to the seals. Grampie was the brave one who had to get close to the seals. I was too nervous, they looked like they wanted to eat my baby!

hungry seals!!!!
Allow me a brief sentimental moment about this next photo... I love it. I don't have any other pictures like it. I don't have pictures of me walking and chatting with my dad. Yes I had my grandpa, but it wasn't quite the same. Looking at this photo brought tears to my eyes as I realized that Colin's dad has stepped into that role for me. He has welcomed me into their family and loved me and cared for me as one of his own. And I am so thankful for him! Thank you "Dyck kids" for sharing your dad with me :D
Rupert's Church dedication...
Well I know I promised a Rupert and Thomas movie extravaganza but alas we have not tried it yet... however I do have something better :D Two Sundays ago we had Rupert dedicated at our Church. I'm so glad that we waited until we got over here to have him dedicated. It just feels right now that we have a home church where we will be for, Lord willing, a long time to come. I loved being able to come in front of the church and say that yes Rupert belongs to the Lord and that we are going to raise him in a home where he knows the love of Christ and will be given every opportunity to know HIM and we pray that one day Rupert will choose to follow the Lord for himself. And I was also so blessed to have the Church in response pray for us as parents and for Rupert and commit to being a part of our lives as we raise him.
Pastor Ryan lead us in scripture, responsive readings and prayer. I so appreciated the way he incorporated us as families and the church as our bigger family.
The verse he chose for Rupert was Psalm 145:18-19.

"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them."
