so... this happened...

So this one time I left Colin in charge of looking after Rupert while I was cleaning up.... this is what happened... (click on photo to enlarge and see the blisters on my poor baby's fingers!)

So I'm cleaning up in the kitchen one day and I hear Rupert burst into tears, I peek into the living room to see my wonderful husband on the computer and my child crying by the heat register... Clearly Rupert has learned a very valuable lesson... heaters are hot! Although that has not stopped him from heading straight for them every chance he gets. But I think today the even more valuable lesson was learned by Colin... if something happens to a baby while he is in your care, you will get an earful from your wife! Good thing he's so good looking or he'd be in some serious trouble!

(Colin is an amazing dad!!!!!!!! And we love him very much!!!!!!! Just to clarify :D )

for my non facebookers... :)

Beef, Beans and Puffs...

Clearly our child likes to eat... so for those of you wondering, "what are they feeding him?????" here's what we're feeding him.

We use peach flavored rice puffs to encourage Rupert to cruise down the couch and work some of that chunk off!

Green beans, broccoli and beef are also among his favorites, when he manages to get them in his mouth!

Our little hungry homeboy!

blocks and animals and trucks oh my!

Our boy loves to play! I love this age! He is so inquisitive and into everything, which can be frustrating but also fun. He is amused by the simplest things and it is so fun to watch him discovering things for the first time. Among his favorite things to play is with his stacking blocks. There are 10 of them and he waits patiently with great anticipation for me to stack them all before crawling over and gently knocking them over.

Now that he is more mobile we have been going to our play room more often. It's nice because we keep different toys down there so each time we go down it's like he's discovering the toys for the first time over and over again. We also have introduced him to Thomas the Train, who he absolutely adores. He has two bigger Thomas board books that he will sit and listen to as he points to the eyes and smiles. While he was sick we watched a lot of Thomas dvds which we have been acquiring. Each time Thomas comes round the bend in the intro Rupert's face lights up with a huge smile and he waves at the tv. So cute! This first pic is when one of the trains crashed, notice his concern and a little bit of fear for the poor engine!

Rupert the pirate aka Captain Poopy Pants!

Rupert loves standing these days and we are so lucky to have a ledge all around the play room that Rupe can reach and play along! There's even a window that he can look out which he absolutely loves.

Rupert is also still really enjoying his ride on truck. Well not so much riding as sitting, but he loves it just the same.

And one last fun shot in his lego box. One day he will build tall towers and amazing creations but for now eating them will suffice!

In a nutshell...

Two trips to the emergency room, 1 inhaler, countless tissues, booger suckers, saline drops, baby tylenol and many midnight viewings of Thomas the Tank Engine later and here is my Christmas post... It may not include everything... such as evening card games, spilled grasshopper pie and delicious late night cracker and cheese ball stations but it's late and I need to go to bed and if certain ladies at a certain church want a new post this will have to do :D

Here's Rupert in his Christmas Eve outfit all ready to go!

After the Christmas Eve service we rushed to the car and headed down to Victoria with my mom to Grammy and Grampy's house to join the Aunties, Uncles and cousins! Rupert wasn't as thrilled with wrapping paper as I thought he would be, but he sure did love all the treasures he found in his stocking and under the tree :D

Cousin Halle in her mermaid and princess costumes. Rupert was especially taken with this "big girl" and rarely let her out of his sight. They had much fun jumping on our bed together. I think he misses her as whenever he sees a little girl around her age he gets a big smile on his face and watches her walk by!

The Belgian... :D My sister in law's boyfriend joined us for Christmas this year... his first Canadian Christmas! We had much fun getting to know him better and greatly appreciated the chocolates he brought along with him.

We got Rupert a ride on truck for Christmas. My mom and dad got me a ride on toy for Christmas one year and my mom told me they were up late Christmas Eve putting stickers on it and as it turned out that's what Colin and I ended up doing too... although it wasn't so much the stickers that took the time as all the assembling... However the look of delight and the amount of time he has spent riding it since Christmas makes it all worth it!

Sharing with cousin Maya. I love these two little people. I love the way they look related, I love that they are so close in age, I love that they already love each other and I love that they will get to learn and grow together!

Rupert's first taste of Grammy's grasshopper pie! Sneaky Grandma!

Cousins bath... here's one for the wedding slide show... this is before Rupert realized that there were girls in his tub and he didn't particularly like that, even if they were his two favorite girls.

Bath time with Grampy! I love these precious moments and am so glad that Rupert is already forming a relationship with his Grandpa as my relationship with my Grandpa was so dear to me.

Well I hope this satisfies my blogger friends who have been waiting for this post :D Sorry for the delay... our New Year's Resolution: no more trips to the Emergency Room!!!!!
